The driver opened the door but just as she began to step out the driver pulled forward and sped up with the door still open. The student was thrown headfirst out the open door onto the sidewalk. … A 39-year-old truck driver was pulling his 18-wheeler tractor trailer into a gravel yard to pick up some aggregate when a box truck traveling behind him slammed into the rear of the trailer without warning and for no apparent reason. The tractor trailer was pushed forward about 35 feet and the driver struck his head on the steering wheel. The driver just thought he was shaken up, got out of his rig and exchanged information with the other driver. … A 49-year-old packaging company supervisor was riding home from work with a co-worker when the co-worker rear ended a stopped vehicle. The supervisor’s hand smashed into windshield, causing multiple fractures which needed screws and plates to repair. He had a long rehabilitation and missed several months of work. … A 32-year-old young man was driving his pickup truck with his dogs in the back. As he approached the vicinity of a truck stop, because it was dusk he didn’t see a tractor trailer which was partially blocking the roadway. The trailer did not have all of the government-required reflective markings. The pickup truck submarined partially under the trailer, and the young man sustained a broken neck.
