Bus driver pulls forward with the door open just as a passenger starts to exit.

… A 25-year old Asian graduate student was on a bus on New Year’s Day on her way to complete a lab assignment. As the bus approached her stop, she walked to the front. The driver opened the door but just as she began to step out the driver pulled forward and sped up with the door still open. The student was thrown headfirst out the open door onto the sidewalk. She sustained a concussion which delayed her graduate training. Earlier that day, the driver had reported to his dispatcher that he had to pull the bus over to throw up and was too sick to drive. Tractor trailer driver compensated for his injuries caused by careless box truck driver when insurer caves in.

… A 39-year-old truck driver was pulling his 18-wheeler tractor trailer into a gravel yard to pick up some aggregate when a box truck traveling behind him slammed into the rear of the trailer without warning and for no apparent reason.  The tractor trailer was pushed forward about 35 feet and the driver struck his head on the steering wheel. … A 32-year-old young man was driving his pickup truck with his dogs in the back.  As he approached the vicinity of a truck stop, because it was dusk he didn’t see a tractor trailer which was partially blocking the roadway. The trailer did not have all of the government-required reflective markings. The pickup truck submarined partially under the trailer, and the young man sustained a broken neck. Mobile mental health therapist needs physical therapy after motor vehicle crash

A 26-year-old therapist was stopped in her Toyota Camry behind another vehicle waiting for it to turn.  Without warning, her vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle, pushing her into the vehicle in front of her and then into a utility pole. The therapist was rushed by ambulance to the local hospital where they thought she may have bleeding on the brain.  It turned out she did not, but she did have multiple injuries with concussion syndromes of blurred vision and nausea.  The case eventually settled with the other driver’s insurance company. … [Read more...]

… A 76-year-old retired industrial chemical salesman was driving his Cadillac on the highway returning home from a wedding.
