iv catheter  … A 61-year-old retired school teacher was injured by an IV catheter placed in her wrist in preparation for surgery. When she went to see a hand surgeon he told her that the IV fluid infiltrated into her wrist, causing inflammation damage to a tendon there.  He performed surgery to repair the tendon.  After a lawsuit was filed, the hospital settled the case to avoid going to court.
