… A 17-year-old boy was having a routine visit at a dentist’s office. It was a dental chain with a high-volume practice. The dentist noted that there was deep decay in a couple of the boy’s teeth and recommended root canals and crowns. When the dentist did one of the root canals, she failed to locate all of the canal chambers. A year later the nerve in the missed canal became infected and abscessed, requiring a visit to the emergency room. The tooth had to have another root canal and a new crown. The lawsuit against the dentist and the dental chain settled before it was scheduled to go to trial in front of a jury.
