… A 32-year-old young man was driving his pickup truck with his dogs in the back. As he approached the vicinity of a truck stop, because it was dusk he didn’t see a tractor trailer which was partially blocking the roadway. The trailer did not have all of the government-required reflective markings. The pickup truck submarined partially under the trailer, and the young man sustained a broken neck. Unfortunately, the claim settled for only a portion of the man’s damages because the trucking company, which was self-insured, had filed for bankruptcy.
